The ownership structure

Scatec and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development have signed a share purchase agreement establishing an Egypt-focused renewable energy investment platform. Scatec’s 22 October regulatory release says it will own 60% and EBRD 40%.

The vehicle, Egypt Renewables Holdings B.V., is intended to support development and financing of solar, wind and battery storage projects. Scatec will remain the lead sponsor, developer, engineering and construction provider, and asset manager across the platform’s projects.

Read the financing descriptions carefully

Scatec says EBRD has committed up to $221 million, comprising approximately $170 million in equity and the balance in project-level guarantees. EBRD’s own release describes an equity stake of up to $221 million. The difference is retained here rather than silently treating both descriptions as identical.

EBRD says the planned portfolio supports the addition of 2.7 GW of solar, 900 MW of wind and 4.2 GWh of battery storage in Egypt. These are planned capacity additions, not a statement that every project is already operational.

The platform’s intended reach

The companies identify interests in Obelisk, Shadwan, Egypt Aluminium phase 1 and Energy Valley. Scatec says further opportunities across the broader MENA region may be considered over time. Future investment possibilities are not completed acquisitions. The platform announcement supplies ownership and development plans; project completion and operating performance remain later milestones.
